"Great City offers fantastic School System, Family Living, Parks and Trails"

I am a proud alumni of the Orono School District. Superintendent, Dr. Karen Orcutt and her team of dedicated educators are committed to providing a welcoming and challenging teaching environment. Recently, the Orono school district was one of three in the country to be named one of the National Schools of Character. It’s the first public school district in Minnesota to get the award. The athletic program is top notch and consistently competes at a very high level.

Orono is a great place to raise a family. The city is unique to it's neighboring cities in that it has a broad geography. This ensures a diverse group of citizens, as well as, a flexible and engaged government, police, and fire infrastructure. Perhaps most importantly, the geographical landscape offers many destination attractions and local activities. For instance, the southern border of Orono includes Lake Minnetonka, one of the largest and most popular bodies of water in the upper Midwest. There are plenty of golf courses, parks & trails.

If you want to own a home with a neighborhood feel, a hobby farm, or a condo, Orono has it. Welcome home!

"Lake Minnetonka Community"

Orono is located a quick 15 miles west of downtown Minneapolis and is one of the more affluent cities in Minnesota commanding the northern shores of Lake Minnetonka.
The community philosophy is to protect and preserve Lake Minnetonka, its water quality, and its recreational asset. Preserve the distinct urban and rural land use patterns and lifestyles and preserve the local character and identity.

"A wonderful place to grow up."

I was lucky enough to grow up on Casco Point in Orono and on Lake Minnetonka. What a place to be an adventurous kid. We spent our days either fishing, swimming or water skiing in the summer. In the winter we would sled, skate or ice fish. Weekend fishing with my Dad are memories I will never forget. I consider myself one lucky kid.

  • School District
Cons
  • Cost of living
  • Limited dining and entertainment options in the immediate city limits
