"A great place for families!"

The majority of this neighborhood has homes built from the middle to late 1900's with median market value. This specific location is center to John Adams middle school, convenient for those with children. Its location is not necessarily near many shopping, dining, or night lift activities but with a short drive you can find many of these items. The neighborhood spirit is high and has a friendly atmosphere with comfort of a secure location. 18th Ave can be a busy traffic area in the neighborhood, if you do have children make sure they know that and are aware of the traffic this road can have. The rest of the neighborhood does not see as much traffic.

If you were to look at this neighborhood on a map you would see that it is one of the only neighborhoods in the area, all surrounded by shopping and commercial.

"Nice neighborhood with lots of shopping area's nearby"

The Meadow Park area it located right in the heart of the Mayo High School area. If you area planning on children, they will definitely be Mayo Spartans. The neighborhood is one the southern most residential area's within the "city life" in Rochester. The farther south you go from here you'll start to see highway beginning to leave the Rochester city limits. The homes in this area are at an average sale price in Rochester. Some perks around the area include a variety of restaurants nearby, the fairgrounds (which include the hockey area's), closely located Apache Mall and a few other stores such as Walmart, Kohls, Shopko, and Menards. It is also closely located to Broadway which can take you north to the Mayo Clinic area. It's location is a bit from Hwy 52 which will take you towards the NW area, but most of your shopping needs can be taken care of in this area. The neighborhood seems to be friendly and there is not as much traffic in the neighborhood area as I stated it is one of the last residential areas in the SE corner.
Pros
  • Lots of Shopping
  • Quiet are located near the High School
  • Good dining options
Cons
  • Far away from NW, NE if you plan on commuting to work, etc.

"An average area for an average priced home"

North River Court is located just off Broadway and 37th St. This neighborhood is tucked away off of busy Broadway. Although a housing neighborhood, it also has apartments available nearby and the affordability of these homes is at an average household income. Schooling can be distant, dining can be limited, and activities can be low besides a movie theater and bowling alley. Conveniently located is a Shopko and Hyvee for any shopping needs. As a whole, these homes can be described as your average home but for location, there are better areas in Rochester with easier access to normal shopping and activities.

"Northrup Community located just off Broadway"

Northrup community is located just off Broadway in NW Rochester. It is small and quiet neighborhood with 2 closely located elementary school, Washington Elementary and Jefferson Elementary. Kellogg Middle School and John Marshall High School are also very close to this location. Some of these homes have been in tact near the late 1800's, so if you are looking for a newly constructed home this area may not be for you.

"Always growing, NW Rochester is a great area in Rochester to find your new home!"

Northwest Rochester is expanding at a fast rate. Whether it is commercial or residential, both seem to be emerging farther on this side of town. With current businesses along with newly constructed buldings, there is plenty of options for shopping, dining, and activities for those who live in the NW area. Homes are being constructed at a fast rate and new neighborhoods are starting their future. One of the newly constructed neighborhoods is also located next to a fairly new elementary school, George Gibbs. Overall, NW Rochester is a great place and with its never ending expansion, there is a lot of opportunity here for home buyers.

"Historically significant and a great place to live!"

Pill hill, located being St. Mary's Hospital has a lot of history. From their significant architecture to the history of their original residents, these homes are definitely elegant. Most of these homes are still have that "Old Fashioned" and thats apart of what makes them desirable. The neighborhood overall is friendly, and closely related to St. Mary's and walking distance to the Mayo Clinic. Being near downtown their are a variety of dining opportunities, along with public transportation. This is a great neighborhood to live in and if your lucky enough, someday have that opportunity.

"If you like peace and quiet, this neighborhood is for you."

Scenic Oaks is tucked away behind Willow Creek Golf Course and Willow Creek Reservoir. This are is a new development area and lots range from $60,000 - $175,000. In a standpoint of just home style and affordability, these are a great fit. As for location this neighborhood is located in an area which does not have much for shopping, night life, transportation, medical facilities, or dining. A short drive is required to reach grocery and shopping and most likely a longer drive to reach your work destination. Although this area is not a busy residential area it is a beautiful area with the convenience of the reservoir and Golf Course.

"Beautiful city located in the Mississippi Bluffs Region of Southeast Minnesota."

This friendly community has a population of approximately 5000 people. It is a very scenic area located on Lake Pepin. In the summer it is a very popular to go boating, especially popular for sail boats. It is approximately 34 miles from Lake City to Rochester Minnesota. It quiets down quite a bit in the winter months but is a popular place for ice fishing. There are a decent amount of businesses including industry, shopping, dining and entertainment considering the size of the town. Many people who live in Lake City but there are also a fair number of people who commute to Red Wing or Rochester for work. The school system is good in Lake City.

"Up and Coming Downtown Rochester, just keeps getting better!"

So thrilled about the changes we have been seeing and will continue to see downtown Rochester with all the excitement of DMC. I wish we had more options for luxury condos downtown as I believe they would be so easy to sell! I get a lot of requests for downtown living, and although there are some options not nearly enough in my opinion. I feel confident that more downtown condos will be coming in the near future. Although we are hardly considered a city with great night life, the entertainment options continue to expand. There are several great establishments downtown for dinner and drinks but if you are looking for dancing...not so much! Thanks to the Rochester Downtown Alliance there are some really cool things going on downtown such as Thursdays on First, Rochester Fest, Winter Fest and Social Ice. I just love that these events bring the people of Rochester and surrounding areas together for some great social gatherings. It is such a clean, safe and friendly downtown it's great that there is more and more going on. We are also lucky to have the Rochester Public Library ,the Rochester Art Center and the Mayo Civic Center downtown.

"So close to downtown, yet this neighborhood has such a small town feel"

This is a great neighborhood in Rochester, very popular with Mayo Clinic employees as well as with anyone who likes to be able to walk to everything. This is the neighborhood that my husband and I lived in for 17 years while serving as the volunteer Resident Directors at the Rochester Better Chance House. This is where our kids grew up.... Loved getting to know our neighbors, participating in neighborhood association events, being in the heart of the city yet feeling like we lived in a small town.
Pros
  • Great location
  • Charming homes
  • Strong Neighborhood Association
Cons
  • Single family homes converted to rentals

"Always sought after, Pill Hill and Historic Southwest Rochester"

Historic Southwest Rochester is the area of town that is located between the downtown Mayo Clinic Campus and the St. Mary's Hospital Campus. It consists of several historical homes dating back to the early 1900's as well as several more that were built up until the 1950's. "Pill Hill" got it's nickname because back in the 1930's when the Mayo Clinic was starting to grow, several of the doctors lived there. There are still several Mayo Physicians and other Mayo employees who live in the neighborhood because of the ultimate proximity to downtown and to all of Mayo's Rochester campuses. There are some famous homes that are on the Historical Register including The Mayo Foundation House which was once home to Dr. William J. Mayo and The Plummer House which was once the home to Dr. Henry Stanley Plummer and Daisy Berkman Plummer.
Pros
  • Beautiful Historic Homes
  • Excellent Location
  • Great Parks
Cons
  • Many homes only have one car garages
  • Many homes have small yards
  • Street parking can be limited
